Our Method

The Magnolia Method brings a different experience to your mat. Magnolia supports a lifestyle that empowers you to seek out beauty in your life every single damn day.  It's about finding a fluid life both on and off the mat.

Magnolia intelligently merges mind-body medicine and exercise science with the wisdom of yoga philosophy as it applies to modern life.  We utilize a combination of barre and yoga philosophies as a base to create inspiration in classes, workshops, structural therapy and teacher trainings.

Our Studio

Magnolia is located at 332 Forest Avenue (in the old Pier One building) in Portland, Maine. We offer Rasamaya Barre, Vinyasa Yoga Flow Classes, as well as private yoga and barre sessions. Way more than fitness, Magnolia offers workshops & gatherings For. Your. Life.

Our small, fun and effective classes will challenge your body while keeping your mind engaged.  Our gatherings, workshops, and support & play groups will bring Community back to your life.

"The classes are effective and keep my attention. They work muscles that I would not normally work with my routine cardio. I will definitely keep going to Magnolia!" - Happy Groupon Customer

"The barre, yoga, and bootcamp classes offered here are fantastic! The teachers are friendly and the atmosphere is really welcoming. The classes are challenging and fun! Can't recommend this place enough!" - Kim

"Teachers are super friendly, and knowledgeable about anatomy. The barre method that they teach is very conscious toward injury prevention and proper form. The boot camps are KILLER. If you like to leave a workout feeling like you've had your rear end handed to you, take barre or boot camp with these gals." - Alice

FAQs

Where is the best place to park?

Parking is located immediately behind the studio, or on Durham Street.

What should I wear to class?

We recommend wearing clothing that is comfortable and allows you to move freely. We ask that you are considerate of your fellow students and wear clothing that is fully covering. For Barre classes we require socks with grips on the soles which we have for sale for $12 at studio. Sneakers or gym shoes are recommended for HIIT classes (please bring a clean pair).

What should I bring to class?

You will need a mat for most classes. We have mats and towels available for rent for $1 at the studio. We also recommend that you bring a water bottle. There is a spigot for filling your bottles with clarified water and we have water bottles for sale for $1.

Socks are required for all classes that use the installed bars, for safety and hygiene. Socks are available to rent for $1 a pair, or to purchase at $12/pair.

Do you have showers?

Unfortunately we do not have showers in our space. However we are currently working on installing new changing rooms and additional amenities!

What should I expect my first time in the studio?

Please plan to arrive 15 minute before class starts to give yourself time to fill out our student contract and for the instructor to show you around. Please us this opportunity to ask your teacher any questions and let them know about any injuries or limitations you might have so they can offer you appropriate modifications and instruction during class.

Do you require pre-registration?

No, but we do recommend it. We have limited spaces and we cannot guarantee you entry unless you pre-register for classes. You can do so here or by emailing us at info@magnoliafitnessmaine.com

I preregistered for a class, that means I can show up late to a class and still have a spot, right?

This is not correct, if you are running late please let us know so that we can save your spot, otherwise we will give your spot to a drop in student, or a student on the waitlist when it is time for class to start.

I saw that you have a groupon and living social deal, can I use it for classes?

The groupon and living social deals are available for students new to Magnolia Fitness, and may be only be used once. If you are new to the studio we encourage you to try the classes out using one of the deals (but not both).
